TRIBAL TOUR OF ORISSA
Orissa is located in the eastern coast of India where the coastline runs 482 km on the Bay of Bengal. It has a vast tribal population belonging to diverse races and culture. The majority of this population inhabits the forest and hilly regions. Orissa has many as 62 tribes, the important of which are Kondha, Koya, Bonda, Gadaba, Binjhal etc. Each of these tribes is marked for its own culture, different from the other. A glimpse of their culture activities may not be out of place to corroborate the same.

Day 01 | ARRIVAL KOLKATA |
Arrive at Kolkata, meet our representative and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon, proceed for the sightseeing visiting Victoria Memorial – a large marble building dedicated to Queen Victoria. Also, visit Zoological garden and Howrah Bridge. Overnight in Kolkata.
Day 02 | KOLKATA – BHUBANESHWAR |
After breakfast, transfer to the railway station to board the train for Bhubaneshwar, which is known as the temple city of India, once upon a time had 7000 temples in and around Bhubaneshwar. Today, few of them are preserved of which Parasurameshwar temple is the earliest group of temples. Mukteshwar temple is known for the Orissan architecture whereas Rajarani temple has got similarity to Khajuraho temple construction. Overnight in Bhubaneshwar.
Day 03 | BHUBANESHWAR – KEONJHAR |
Morning after breakfast, drive to Keonjhar. Enroute visit Anandpur (Seri Culture Village) to see the Tusser weaving village of Thakur Munda and the silk worm culture center at Dhinkikot. Also, visit Sitabinji to witness the ancient rock painting and scripts. Overnight in Keonjhar.
Day 04 | KEONJHAR – SAMBALPUR |
Post breakfast, drive to Sambalpur visiting the villages and tribes on the way and witness the hand looms. These are the villages where most of the villagers are found weaving. Overnight in Sambalpur.
Day 05 | SAMBALPUR – BOLANGIRI |
This day drive to Bolangiri, enroute visit Baripalli and a few weaver men’s villages famous for tie and dye Ekkat weaving on the handlooms. After that, continue your drive to Bolangiri and on arrival check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Bolangiri.
Day 06 | BOLANGIRI – BHAWANIPATNA |
Morning drive to Ranipur Jharial, standing on a rocky hill. Visit 64 Yogni Temple, dedicated to Yogini goddesses in various positions.Thereafter, continue your drive to Bhawanipatna. Overnight in Bhawanipatna.
Day 07 | BHAWANIPATNA |
Spend the day exploring a few tribal villages in and around Bhawanipatna, a city of numerous temples dedicated to different deities of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Overnight in Bhawanipatna.
Day 08 | BHAWANTIPATNA – JEYPORE |
After breakfast, start the drive for Jeypore. Enroute visit Kotpad weaver man’s village, where the male weavers transform threads to the cloths. After that, continue your drive and reach Jeypore. Overnight in Jeypore.
Day 09 | JEYPORE |
After breakfast, visit the weekly market of Bonda and Gadhaba tribes at Onukudelli. The Bonda tribal market is opened on Thursdays, where the inhabitants come down from around and sell their forest products and to purchase their weekly stuffs. On the other hand, Gadhabas are one of the major tribes of Orissa and have unique house patron, villages, jewellery, costumes and life styles. Overnight in Jeypore.
Day 10 | JEYPORE – RAYAGADA |
After breakfast, drive to Rayagada, a place of meadows, forests, waterfalls, terraced valleys, peopled by many primitive tribal groups. Reach Rayagada and check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Rayagada.
Day 11 | RAYAGADA |
Post breakfast, drive to Kothagarh (near Belghar) where you can visit Kuttiya Kondha market and a few Kuttiya villages. After that return back to Rayagada. Overnight in Rayagada.
Day 12 | RAYAGADA – TAPTAPANI |
This day drive from Rayagada to Taptapani via Puttasingh and visit a few Lanjia Soura villages, the village where people use their traditional dresses to wear which appears like Lanjia or Tail. The people here have scattered housing pattern. Reach Taptapani and check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Taptapani.
Day 13 | TAPTAPANI – PURI |
After breakfast, drive to Puri , also known as Jagannath Puri which is the abode of Lord Jagannath. Enroute, visit Chilika Lake which is a brackish water lagoon, spread over three districts of Puri. It is also one of India’s migratory birds paradise. Spend some time here and after that continue drive to Puri. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. You can visit Jagannath Puri in evening. Overnight in Puri.
Day 14 | PURI – KONARK – PURI |
This day proceed for a full day excursion to Konark, famous for Konark Sun Temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in India. The temple was built in 13th century and is dedicated to Hindu God Surya. The temple is an architecture marvel of Eastern India and the temple complex has the appearance of a 100-foot (30 m) high chariot with immense wheels and horses, all carved from stone. Return back to Puri by evening. Overnight in Puri.
Day 15 | PURI – BHUBANESHWAR – DELHI |
Morning after breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Bhubaneshwar. On arrival, you will be transferred to Bhubaneshwar airport to board the flight for Delhi so as to connect to your onward flight.
