CHARDHAM DARSHAN IN UTTARAKHAND

Chardham is a famous and important Hindu pilgrimage circuit in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state. This yatra commences from Haridwar and covers the four major shrines – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Each of these four sites is devoted to a specific deity and due to Hindu mythology, many devotees take up this virtuous pilgrimage in the hope to experience bliss and cleanse their souls of all worldly evils. Apart from the pilgrimage importance, these shrines also offer serene beauty as all are located in the Himalayas giving a magnificent view of the nature.

Day 01DELHI – HARIDWAR

Start your Chardham yatra from Delhi. Morning, drive from Delhi to Haridwar, which is a prominent Hindu pilgrimage and an ancient city where Ganga river exits the Himalayas. Late afternoon, reach Haridwar and check-in at the hotel. Evening, proceed for the Ganga Aarti at Har-Ki-Pauri. Return back to your hotel. Overnight in Haridwar.

Day 02HARIDWAR – BARKOT

After breakfast, proceed for Barkot via Mussoorie and Kempty Fall. Barkot will be our first halt for the Yamunotri shrine. Evening reach Barkot and check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Barkot.

 

 

Day 03BARKOT – YAMUNOTRI – BARKOT

Morning, drive to Jankichatti from where the trek starts for Yamunotri. It will be a bit steep hike of 6-7 kms to reach Yamunotri temple. You can either walk or can hire a pony/doli on direct payment. On arriving Yamunotri, one can take a dip in the hot water or kund, offer prayers to Yamunotri ji. Visit Surya Kund also which is near to the shrine and Divya Shila to offer prayers. Later, trek back to Jankichatti and drive back to Barkot for overnight stay.

Day 04BARKOT – HARSIL

Post breakfast, drive to Harsil via Uttarkashi. Uttarkashi is a holy town with number of temples and ashrams. Enroute, visit the famous Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Continue drive to Harsil and on arrival check-in at the hotel. Harsil is the beautiful spot to see the colors of the nature. Set amidst the beautiful mountain peaks, Harsil is considered amongst the most beautiful places in the Garhwal region. Overnight in Harsil.

Day 05HARSIL – GANGOTRI – UTTARKASHI

This day proceed for a day visit to Gangotri from Harsil. Gangotri is one of the prime places among the four Dhams (Shrines) which is dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Reach there and have a holy dip in the pious river Bhagirathi (Ganga) and then visit the Gangotri Temple to perform puja and offer prayers to the Goddess Ganga. It is believed that Ganga touched the earth at this spot. After darshan, drive back to Uttarkashi for overnight stay.

Day 06UTTARKASHI – GUPTKASHI

After breakfast, drive to Guptkashi via Ghansali and Tilwara. Reach Guptkashi and check-in at the hotel. Guptkashi which means ‘Hidden Kashi’ is a town of religious importance. It is believed that Pandavas in search of Lord Shiva came to this place and got the first glance of Shiva here only in the form of Nandi (Bull). Visit the ancient Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi dedicated to God Shiva followed by another temple Ardhanareshvara, a half man half woman form of Shiva and Parvati.

Day 07GUPTKASHI – KEDARNATH

Morning after breakfast, drive to Sonprayag, from where you will start your trek for the Kedarnath Dham. You can also hire a pony or doli on direct payment. You will see Mandakini river flowing on the opposite direction, along your way. Mandakini which originates behind Kedarnath, is one of the major tributaries of Ganga river. Reach Kedarnath, and visit the Temple, where you can perform pooja and offer prayers to Lord Shiva.

Day 08KEDARNATH – GUPTKASHI – RUDRAPRAYAG

After breakfast, check-out from the lodge and continue for Rudraprayag. Rudraprayag is the point of confluence of Alaknanda river flowing from Badrinath and Mandakini river flowing from Kedarnath. Reach Rudraprayag and check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Rudraprayag.

 

Day 09RUDRAPRAYAG – BADRINATH

Morning, start your drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. Badrinath is an important Hindu pilgrimage site which is situated between Nar and Narayan peaks. Reach Badrinath and check-in at the hotel. Later, proceed for a visit to the holy shrine of Badrinath Temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is known to be of Vedic origin and over the decades it has undergone many renovations. Have a dip in the Tapt Kund (Hot Spring) here and then perform pooja at Badrinath Temple.

Day 10BADRINATH – RUDRAPRAYAG

This day proceed for a sightseeing of Mana, the last Indian village before Tibet which is inhabited by Indo-Mongolian tribe. Visit Vyas Gufa, Bheempul and have a sight of origin of Saraswati river. Later, drive to Rudraprayag and on arrival and check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Rudraprayag.

 

Day 11 RUDRAPRAYAG – RISHIKESH

After breakfast, drive to Rishikesh – a spiritual city which is also known as the yoga capital of the world. Reach Rishikesh and check-in at the hotel. Later, proceed for the sightseeing visiting Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula. Evening, visit Parmarth Niketan and witness the Ganga Aarti here. Overnight in Rishikesh.

 

Day 12 RISHIKESH – DELHI -DEPARTURE

Morning, post breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Delhi. On arrival, transfer to Delhi airport to board the flight for your onward journey.
